Panamanian emcees Raka Dun and Raka Rich have been tearing up stages as Los Rakas since before they were allowed to vote. Being born in Panama and raised back and forth between their fam on the isthmus and Oakland, California created emcees that switch their rhymes from their Panamanian slanged up version of Spanish back to the unique Bay Area slang tinged English with ease. Which makes these cats a threat to the whole New World via their crowd and dance floor rocking jams. With deep roots in their community here and in Panama Los Rakas aim high to the sky, declaring that the day that you finally see a bunch of Afro Latinos at the Latin Grammys you’ll know that it was Los Rakas’ hand that helped make it happen. From this performance you wouldn’t tell them no. GET UP ON MAGIC!

Carnival S.F 2010 in The Mission was packed with partiers. The sun was gleaming on the parade, where thousands of people in the crowd were out drinking, dancing, eating and soaking in the rare unblocked sun rays. Los Rakas was out too, shooting their music video for “Abrazame” in the middle of the the parade. But it wouldn’t have been a true party if they didn’t get to rock the stage too. Which they did in front a a couple of thousand heads. CHECK ‘EM OUT NOW AND GET UP ON MAGIC!

If you want to know more about Los Rakas, check their music out HERE ON THEIR BANDCAMP SITE

Two of the Dj Amen’s Bay Freshman 10 for 2010, DaVinci and Moe Green rocked out at Get Live’s “Made You Look PT 2″ event held at 111 Minna. I really wish that spot would put in more bass traps because the live sound in there is a muddy hot mess. Still the spot was packed and Moe and DaVinci did more that hold down their respective sets. Get up on LIVE SHIT.

BTW. There’s another chance for you to check DaVinci w One Be Lo tonight @ The Rockit Room in SF.

Since it’s Slapper Sunday it’s only correct we start it off with “Sam’s Sundae” from Bi-Rite Cremery. The treat is an example of simplicity @ it’s most excellent. Chocolate ice cream with bergamot olive oil, maldon sea salt and whipped cream. Get up on magic.

SLAPPERS-(O.G) KEGS ONE, HTK, GTB

Chasen Paper, 7 April, 2010

I know I slipped off the slapper grind for a hot second but my homie KEGS ONE brought me back to life when I received a slightly heavier than usual white envelope from him in the mail. KEGS’ hand styles are famous. Original, clean, and able to be busted quickly, HTK has been rockin for two decades now. They are indigenous to S.F South Bay/Peninsula area and he and his crew made it known on the streets who the originators were. GET THE FUCK UP ON MAGIC!

“P.S. If you have ILL hand styles. Throw up some fresh shit on a slapper and send it to the address below

24KMILKCRATE.COM, 2725 Mission St. San Francisco, California, 94110 “

HUF and Stones Throw Records decided to do a collaboration one off release to commemorate the last date of Mayer Hawthorne’s national tour. You can read the write up below from HypeBeast. The ILLEST part of the whole project though was seeing my homie Billy Teichen (in the black hat) skating along side Keith in the “I Left My Heart In San Francisco” promo video below. Billy’s design sense taught me a lot early on and without him 24KMilkCrate wouldn’t be what it is today. In fact I have no clue what the site would even be called. He’s an awesome graphic designer and the dude can skate his fucking ass off. GET UP ON MAGIC!

Mayer Hawthorne ends his two-month long US Tour on April 15th in San Francisco. To commemorate the occasion, Stones Throw has teamed up with local powerhouse HUF and designer Freegums on an exclusive Mayer Hawthorne collabo pack featuring a t-shirt + Heart-Shaped USB with Mayer Hawthorne’s rendition of Tony Bennet’s classic “I Left My Heart In San Francisco” pre-loaded onto each USB. In addition, an event will be held that day at Eve Lounge with DJ Sets from Mayer Hawthorne & Sake 1. Hosted by Fran Boogie, Donwill & Trackademicks. Mayer Hawthorne & The County play live earlier in the night at The Warfield Theater with Passion Pit. A video for the event is shown above while the pack itself is seen here.

It’s finally here folks! J.Davinci’s breakout album “The Day The Turf Stood Still”. There isn’t a project out of the Bay Area right now that reps the streets in a more dynamic, rugged and introspective light than J.DaVinci. His narratives of block hustling, tragedy and triumph go perfect with his guttural tone and leaning rhyme scheme. We’ve told you about J.Davinci in our 24KMilkcrate TV episodes 1 + 2.  This is not a project to be missed or slept upon. GET UP ON MAGIC!!!

Vid- Da Evangillest feat. Bambu “Goons”

Chasen Paper, 9 March, 2010

Frisco emcee Da Evangillest teamed up with Bambu to give you this video offering. For some reason I feel there was another version of this song floating around with a different beat. Dex on the beats.

Alexander Spit keeps parties rocking and moving like ships in the panama canal. Eloquent with

beats, turn tables and most of all on the microphone, his LA to SF and back again Cali work ethic is singed and sealed with molten gold. His arrival back in L.A couldn’t have been at a better time. If you didn’t catch him at “On The Rox” with Dom Kenddedy, Carter, and Freddie Gibbs in L.A last week, find him in Atlanta or Miami for the Winter Music Conference later this month. Get on magic.

24Karat Milkcrate has telling you about JBillion for a year. He’s clutch if you want a performer that does

the thing opposite of sleeping pills to people, if that thing were your name spelled out in cocaine on mirrored glass. He’s making more nose than jet engines echoing off skyscrapers. It’s time for him to be everywhere. He’s got music to make shows to rock and asses to kick. Trust us, he’s done it for 24Karat Milkcrate many times. It makes complete sense for these two to do a collaboration and for 24Karat MilkCrate to be presenting it to you. Get your new music monday fix on. Press the download button and listen to it if you’re at work, chilling, or have a pulse in your body at this moment.
