Artifice- Grotesk “Straight Outta” LA Premiere
Chasen Paper, 16 May, 2010
Grotesk did some originals for Espn’s Ice Cube directed show “Straight Outta LA” which covers the confluence of Los Angeles Gangster Rap and hallowed days of the LA Raiders. It shows tonight on ESPN 2 at 6pm East Coast time. Get up on magic!
-Young Cube

-Rod Martin

-Gene Upshaw & Lester Hayes

-Al Davis

Tonight at 8 on ESPN! “Straight Outta LA” gets into that sweet spot of sports and culture: NWA, The LA Raiders, gangster rap and actual gangs, starter jackets, corduroy hats, Lester Hayes, Rod Martin, Marcus Allen, The LA riots, and the madman/genius Left Coast Steinbrenner of football—Al Davis. This is about as interesting as pro football can get. Big up to James Blagden our infamous friend (responsible with Chris Isenberg of the youtube sensation LSD NO-NO) for landing 3 minutes of amazing animation narrated by Ice Cube in it. No Mas also turned the last of their Raiders Starters into Finisher Bags in honor of the occasion.
