Fix Up: Nike SB “Wallenberg” Dunk Low

Chasen Paper, 6 March, 2010

My child hood high school Wallenberg in San Francisco was always one of the wickedest skate spots in S.F. In honor of this iconic skate capitol made famous world wide by skate videos Nike made an SB Dunk Low inspired by the palm tree that thrives on second step. These right here go hard!

“The Palm Tree at the foot of the 2nd step of the Big 4 at Raoul Wallenberg Alternative School in San Francisco has played a supporting role in skateboarding since 1990. My Nike SB Dunk Low colorway is inspired by this little tree’s “Twenty Year Anniversary” in 2010/2011. Throughout the mid 90’s the tree made in appearance in most of the best skate videos of the era. Dudes were getting tech using the bottom stair as a low ledge and the second stair as a high ledge. The tree grew. In the early 2000’s people started hucking themselves down the 4, pulling tricks that would have been impressive down the first stair ten years earlier. Over the decade the tree has grown larger, like the skating going on around it. The colorway draws a palette from the palm tree itself while utilizing hemp for the Swoosh. The white midsole represents the step and has a visible “waxed ledge” around the top of it, just like that step at Wallenberg. Lastly, the insoles each contain a pixelated image of the palm tree itself, giving a nod to all of the times it has appeared in skate videos over the years.”

Ambush is a dope Toronto based clothing brand I fell across while going on a Drake Vs Degrassi Twitter rant. They say that Ambush is for you if you like typography, bold designs, and pop colors. Obviously 24kMilkCrate.Com is into the first two former categories. Ambush’s Spring 2010 collection is their first to hit the streets, and their video preview below is amazing! Fix Up- Official® Summer 2010 Lookbook

Chasen Paper, 3 March, 2010

Offical’s summer 2010 look book is one of its best yet. Shot by a 24KMilkCrate homie Amanda Lopez and featuring rising producer/songwriter De Luv. They couldn’t have picked better people to represent their increasingly desirable hats. When we hit Japan this summer I’m going to need a few to keep my head cool while hitting those deep mountain temples. GET UP ON MAGIC!

Here’s Stalley getting a sneak peak at Mishka’s new spring line at their pop up shop in Williamsburg Brooklyn along with the Creative Control crew. Of course the folks over there don’t let him walk away empty handed. Check the fly shit.

Fix Up- Complex’s “Cut & Show” X Red Wing

Chasen Paper, 17 February, 2010

There are few completely “made in America” companies out there. Businesses that support entire small towns with their product thus feeding the image of the American dream, industry, quality, and tradition. I predict as the American dollar drops, I mean keeps dropping buying overseas products will become more expensive and American made will start to mean something again. Kind of like going back to the 30’s/40’s. Unless the Illuminati force a single North American currency on us like the Amero. But that has nothing to DO WITH RED WING! GET UP ON MAGIC!

I also saw the homie Phillip in this he’s home boy with the scarf who starts the chase off and finishes it. Great commerial. PRO-Keds came up when they got Dante to spear head their marketing.

Fix Up: Penfield 2010 Spring/Summer

Chasen Paper, 8 February, 2010

2010 is Penfield outdoor company’s 35th year of existence. Personally Penfield’s fashion design sense has led to their vests and jackets taking over North Face in my perennial war for closet space. Penfield vests kept me warm through a couple of NYC trips this winter. And their wind breaker kept me dry during the past two weeks of constant rain here in San Francisco. While the construction on some of their button ups has been less durable (buttons falling off with almost no warning). Their jackets and vests have served me well while I run around slapping out interviews and traveling. Check their Penfield USA store and GET UP ON MAGIC!
