First of all I’d like to say that there are a ton of hyper talented, young, eccentric, and visionary hip hop artists in the Bay Area but @ this point there hasn’t been much attention on them. In to this situation steps Jay Anthony. Jay Anthony is no newbie to the hip hop game at all. He’s been shaping and participating in hip hop music for over half a decade now and homie isn’t even much more than 20. That’s why 24KMilkCrate is very happy to be apart of his upcoming “FUCK IT SMILE” party Friday March 19th @ Etiquette lounge in SF. There’s no reason for you to be any place that night except with two of the Bay Area’s hottest artists partying and soaking in the awesome vibes. There’s no one out there like ‘em! Get up on Magic!!!!

Vid- J*DaVeY “Get Together”

Chasen Paper, 10 March, 2010

LA based J*Davey are in a class of their own. Transcendent, groovy, and elevating, their music is wholly inspired by a higher power. Get up on Magic!

J*DaVeY “Get Together” from Veronica “V-Chip” Hinds on Vimeo.

“Directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Veronica Hinds, the video takes viewers on a journey of transcendence as the main characters are lured away from their everyday lives by a floating orb of light that leads them to the entrance of the unknown. When asked about the main concept behind the video Jack Davey explains, “I kept seeing a processional march down a hallway… and wanted to convey the main characters following their light to a meeting place.” This concept was adopted to convey the main message behind the song; transcendence – breaking free of the confines of the everyday to experience a life without boundaries. “People need to step out of their individual bubbles and start connecting with other people” says Jack Davey. “Step outside of your comfort zone and feel something new, try something new, speak to someone new, transcend.” This message rings especially true with fans who recognize J*DaVeY for their refusal to be boxed into a stereotype or genre. When the glowing orb appears in front of you, will you follow it? Are you ready to break away from the confines of everyday life and explore a new dimension with Jack and Brook?”

The cool of an all white background will never tire. Simplicity at it’s finest. It lets you focus on the product. In this case dope flows from the homie DONWILL off of his “High Fidelity” dropping 3/23/2010

El Mac Retna & Kofie form like Voltron to beautify the world once again this amazing time lapse of a “Justice”

“El Mac, Retna and myself were commissioned by Yosi Sergant to create a mural for the Manifest Equality Event held in Hollywood, Calif from March 3-7 of 2010. From February 26 to March 2 we painted day and night using imported spray paint and 3 scissor lifts to create the 20 x 100 foot semi-grayscale mural located in the parking lot of the former Pic-n-save/Big Lots. “

U-N-I had an amazing release show for “Love Supreme 2.0″ @ BUBBLE GUM @ the Blue Monkey in LA last night. Thrown’ by the Los Angeles Leakers. Big up to Dj Sourmilk. The house was packed to the rafters and there were numerous surprise guest appearances. Curt@!ns, J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar and a ton of other weoples appeared out of thin air. I went home early…haha. FAIL

Why I do I feel like there isn’t a big enough concerted effort behind Big Boi assuredly super psychedelic “Sir Lucious Leftfoot the Son of Chico Dusty” project. With or with out André 3000, Big Boi’s flow always astounds me.

I was on Fairfax and I couldn’t help but notice that David Choe  bombed the place with posters. David Choe has always been a prolific street artist, so plastering the streets for 50 block swaths is a regular night of business for him, but hat makes this special is that the posters declared his plans on throwing a show to seal his triumphant return to his home turf of Los Angeles. The event is set to happen at the Lazarides gallery and it’s titled “NOTHING TO DECLARE” and will open somewhere in Beverly Hills in April. David Choe is as close as a rockstar visual artist as you will get in the new millennium. GET UP ON MAGIC!

“David Choe fans in LA rejoice! As he explains in a way only he can on his blog, it’s apparently been six years since his last solo and he wants to make it up to the Angelinos. After seeing his recent sold out show in SF, we are looking forward to “Nothing To Declare” with Lazarides in April at a yet to be disclosed Beverly Hills location and will definitely have more to follow as the show gets closer.”

We depart from our usual scheduled content to bring you “2100″. This is a wonderfully produced animated journey into our world’s possibly horrid future if we don’t rectify our current economic approach of taking resources from the planet with out replacing them. Truly an eye opener. Watch it and contemplate.
